Basketball Ireland will be hosting an Introduction to Coaching course in the National Basketball Arena, Tallaght in February.
The one day course will take place on Saturday, February 4th from 9.30am to 5.30pm and will cost €40 euro per person. Speaking about the course, Basketball Ireland Coaching Officer, Conor James stated: “This Introduction to Coaching course is perfect for anyone looking to kick start their coaching qualifications and are aged 16 years or older. We’ve no doubt this course is going to fill up fast and with limited places, we advise anyone interested to get their booking in quickly!” Payment must be made before the start date and can be made by calling BIHQ reception and making a card payment over the phone. The NEBB is seeking a suitably qualified coach, assistant coach and manager for the North East Regional Boys Team.
Trials are expected to take place over February Mid Term Break. For more information please contact Carol Verschoyle at carol.verchoyle@gmail.com The NEBB U16 and U18 teams, the North East Knights, will be travelling to the Intersport Youth Basketball Festival in Kaposvar, Hungary from 2nd to 8th July 2017.
Preparation for the teams begins in earnest on Saturday, 28th January when a regional coaching session for all players interested in trying out for any of the four teams will take place from 10am to 12pm for U16/18 boys and from 12.30pm to 2.30pm for U16/18 Girls. The venue will be confirmed shortly. Trials for all teams will take place on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st February. Stage 1 for boys will take place on Monday 20th from 10am to 2pm, and for girls from 3-7pm. Stage 2 for the girls will take place on Tuesday 21st from 10am to 2pm and for the boys from 3-7pm. Trials will soon be announced with training camps to be held over the February Mid Term break. Trials are open to all Clubs/Players registered with the North East Basketball Board. We are also looking for expressions of interest from suitably qualified coaches and managers to work with these regional teams. Each team will require a coach, assistant coach and manager. There will be a meeting for those interested in taking on a coaching or management role on Thursday 19th January at 7.30pm in the Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells. Several international tournaments are being considered as well as pre-tournament games against other regions and more details will be announced soon.
