Due to the lasting buildup of snow around many North East venues, Juvenile fixtures for Sunday the 4th of March have been cancelled in the interest of safety. League games will continue as scheduled next week.
On Sunday 11th March, Drogheda Bullets host Dr Tim Rice from 2-5pm, delivering a workshop on Defense, "Becoming a Defensive Stopper". All club members, coaches and players are invited to attend.
Players will receive instruction and training on the concepts necessary to become a knowledgeable and solid defensive player. Players will learn:
Originally from Robertsdale, Alabama USA, Tim Rice has served in coaching roles at the NCAA Division I and III levels, NAIA and NCCAA levels, at the high school level and international level during his 25-year career. He has served as a head collegiate coach in basketball, cross country, golf, and soccer during this time, as well as serving in the roles of Sports Information Director and Athletic Director. He currently serves on the Elite Performance Committee for Basketball Ireland, the FIBA governing body of the sport in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, and has consulted with other sport organizations in the Republic of Ireland, including a seven-month appointment at St. Mary’s College Galway. Additionally, Tim leads the Doctor of Psychology program at the University of the Rockies in Denver, Colorado USA. He also teaches for four other universities part-time and is considered an expert in sport management and sport psychology. He also serves as a peer reviewer for the International Sport Coaching Journal. Lastly, he is the President of Basketball Mentoring, a service-oriented organization started as a way to help fellow coaches by providing a non-biased perspective for improved coaching, teaching, and evaluation. He is noted for his ability to teach defensive principles for both teams and individuals. Many of Tim’s former student-athletes have gone on to become sport coaches and administrators. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from the University of Mobile (where he was a scholarship athlete and a three-time all-conference and national-level cross-country competitor), a Master of Sport Science degree in Sport Management from the United States Sports Academy, and a Doctor of Sports Management degree in Sport Management/Human Resource Management from the United States Sports Academy. Due to poor weather conditions, all NEBB fixtures for Saturday the 3rd of March have been cancelled.
