Congratulations to the Blackwater Steelers & Muckno Lakers U16 girls and the Cavan Lakers & Drogheda Bullets U16 boys who competed in the All Ireland Club Championships over the weekend!
Cavan Lakers came out on top of their pool, making it to Division 1 and finishing out 4th overall. Drogheda Bullets won the Divison 2 final putting them just one place behind in 5th. Blackwater Steelers, not happy with their 2 losses/1 win against Muckno in their own region, travelled all the way to Kilkenny to even the score. Both teams made it to the Divison 1 finals, with the Steelers claiming a narrow victory over Muckno Lakers, finishing 1st and 2nd respectively. Overall Placings: Blackwater Steelers Basketball Club: U16 Girls B - 1st Drogheda Bullets Basketball: U16 Boys B - 5th Muckno Lakers: U16 Girls B - 2nd Cavan Lakers Basketball Club: U16 Boys B - 4th The full rankings and scores from all the games as well as match reports from the two finals can be found here. Well done to all the players who attended the U14 Boys Regional Training on Sunday. the next round of training/trials will take place in Mullagh Sports Centre on Monday 1st May from 10:30am-1:30pm.
Any players who were unable to attend on Sunday are also welcome to attend. Players should bring their own Ball, 5Euro for hall rental and a drink/snack. Please ensure that all players also supply an email address to assist future direct communications. Following the success of our 14 squads at the AICCs before Easter this weekends sees four of our U16 teams head off to represent the NEBB at the U16 Boys and Girls ALL IRELAND CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS in Carlow/Kilkenny and Kerry
The U16 Girls from Muckno Lakers and Blackwater Steelers will be in Old Leighlin BC, Carlow and O'Loughlin's GAA, Kilkenny, and the U16 boys from Cavan Lakers and Drogheda Bullets will play in Castleisland and Killorglin, Co Kerry. Pool games in all venues will be on the morning and afternoon of Saturday, 22nd April with semi finals and finals taking place on Saturday evening and Sunday. The NEBB would like to wish the very best of luck to all our U16 teams and are fully confident they will do the North East proud. Please bring a ball, Water and €5 to cover hall rental. The U14 Boys regional trials due to take place this Saturday have been postponed, new date to be announced.
The next session of the U14 Girls Regional team trials has been moved from this Saturday the 15th to Thursday the 20th of April, 11am to 3pm in Mullagh Hall.

Drogheda Sparks, Cavan Lakers and Blackwater Steelers, competing in the 'B' competition, all managed to top their pools and so competed in the Division 1 semi finals, with Blackwater Steelers winning the U14 boys final. Muckno Lakers, competing in the 'A' competition, made it to the Division 3 final, earning themselves silver medals after a very tough weekend of basketball. Overall Placings: Muckno Lakers: 10th, U14 Girls A Blackwater Steelers: 1st, U14 Boys B Drogheda Sparks: 4th, U14 Girls B Cavan Lakers: 4th, U14 Boys B The full rankings and scores from the games can be found here. North East Regional Senior Men's team are currently looking for coach to select and work with seniors Men's regional team for the NAICC tournament taking place on 5th and 6th of May in Cork.
