For what has now become an annual Easter holidays trip for the North east regional juvenile teams all 6 North East Knights teams, U14 Boys & Girls, U16 Boys & Girls and U18 Boys and girls enjoyed the hospitality of the Ballyshannon basketball club on Tuesday 27th March. The teams played a variety of teams from the North West including their own regional teams(U14 Boys & Girls and U16 Girls), teams from Sligo All Stars(U16 & U18 Boys), and a combined team from Letterkenny IT/Letterkenny Blaze(U18 girls).
For the U16 and U18 teams and their coaches the games were part of a planned series of challenge games in preparation for this summer’s trip to the Eurobasket Challenge 2018 in Lloret de Mar, Spain. Training started in late December with team selections in early February and the teams and will now be training more regularly as the league season comes to an end. The U14 teams have also been training regularly since early January with 12 players selected for the games in Ballyshannon from the squad of players attending training. Further challenge games as well as some Friendship Tournaments, as in previous years, are planned for the months ahead and team selections will be made for each of these events from the squads of players. Players as well as coaches, managers with the North East Knights come from clubs all across the NEBB region, and participation offers all an excellent opportunity to develop both playing and coaching skills. |
