Just to say thanks and well done to everyone on getting through a very hectic first half of the season. This year has seen a tremendous effort by all clubs to develop their teams and work together to get all our games played. A big thank you to the coaches who put such effort and energy into their preparation. Thanks you to all our referees and table officials who gave so selflessly of their time. Without your help and co-operation we could not have gotten through so many matches. This has meant that Basketball was the real winner this year irregardless of who is on top of the respective tables. From U12's up the senior Men's and women's it has been great to see so many high quality games. This certainly bodes well for the future of the game in the North East Region. The final fixtures table will be out before the end of the week and we can all look forward to a slightly less manic second half to the season with top 4's to come in March and AICC's in both U14 and 16 this season. Development was one of the issues discussed at our most recent board meeting held in Headford Arms on the 15th December. Given the large number of players currently in our region, We as a board would like to help develop and improve the standards of players within our region. To this end the board would request that all clubs would nominate 2 players from their U12 and U14 boys and girls team to attend a regional development camp in Mullagh on the 31st December.(Details to follow) Another area we would like to improve is the Publicity our sport receives in the area. As a board we still do not have a PRO and would really to see the position filled by a volunteer from any of our 14 clubs. If you feel that you have some time (a very small amount) to spare can you please contact your club secretary or the NEBB secretary and make yourself known. On that note I would like to thank the NEBB Committee and Board for all their efforts throughout the year and wish all our members a happy and peaceful Christmas Best Regards Diarmuid NEBB Chairman |
