Declan Nannery Memorial Cup
In late 2024 the Navan Cougars basketball club was greatly saddened by the death of its founding member, Declan Nannery. During his long involvement in the club Declan had served as a committee member, player, coach and valued friend and mentor to those who were involved in the club. At area board level he was a highly respected and much liked referee and also served as chairman of the North East area board.
To honour Declan’s memory, and to celebrate his life and love of basketball and all that he gave to the development of the sport, the club is extending an invitation to players and spectators alike to participate in a tournament hosted by Navan Cougars B. C. on the 13th September 2025, where teams from across the North East region will compete for the Declan Nannery Memorial Cup.
The tournament takes place in St Patrick’s Classical School, Navan with games beginning at 10am. You can find the full schedule for the day here: Tournament Schedule.
The admission fee for spectators is €5, with all proceeds from the day going to two very important charities:
Irish Cancer Society Night Nurses
Brain Tumour Ireland
So get along to St Pat’s in Navan on Saturday, 13th September for what promises to be a very special day for basketball in the North East.
