NE KNIGHTS U16 & U18 and U17 Regional Team Training 2026/27
The NEBB Knights will hold introductory training sessions for U16/18 players on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October in Mullagh Sports Hall.
The Knights teams are the regional teams of the North East Area Board and are composed of players from clubs throughout Cavan, Meath, Monaghan, Louth and Streete. The coaches/managers are all volunteers from the North East clubs. For a number of years, the U16 and U18 teams have been offering players and coaches the opportunity to experience basketball at an international European level, and to grow and develop their own skills in the process - as well as enjoying the social aspect of getting to know others throughout the region. The teams are open to all eligible players registered with clubs in the NEBB and resident in Ireland.
Over the past few summers, the teams travelled to the EuroBasket tournament in Lloret de Mar, Spain in the first week in July. You can see some of the highlights from those trips here.The coaches hope to be able to take some groups abroad again this year - the number will depend on the availability of coaches and managers to travel with the players as well as enough players able to commit to the training programme.

U17 Interregional Teams
The introductory sessions on the first weekend in October will also incorporate training for any players interested in trying out for the teams for the BI U17 Interregional Tournaments taking place next May. These teams are aimed at players born in 2010/11 but are not open to any players in BI academies or international squads.
The first introductory training sessions for all age groups will take place as follows on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October.
Saturday 3rd:
3pm - 5pm: U16/17 Boys (Players born 2010/11/12)
5.15pm - 715pm: U16/17 Girls (Players born 2010/11/12)
Sunday 4th
9am to 11am: U18 Boys (Players born 2009/10)
11.30am - 1.30pm: U18 Girls (Players born 2009/10)
2pm to 4pm: U16 Girls (Players born 2011/12)
4.30pm - 6.30pm: U16 Boys (Players born 2011/12)
If there are any players who wish to attend this year’s introductory sessions, they should complete and submit this NE Knights Registration Form 2026.27 by Tuesday 29th September. Places are limited.
Please select the training session that best suits you – players only need to attend one on either day.
If players are interested in participating but are unable to attend the first session the form should still be submitted before the first session.
Players attending training should bring a ball, drink, gum shields and €5 for hall hire. Players should not wear club gear please. Players must be registered in advance to attend.
